All right!! Let's just rut like animals!

Is it any wonder that people are disgusted with Planned Parenthood?

Their latest charming escapade is a report issued in Europe to demand (yes, demand!) "that "children 10 and older be given a "comprehensive sexuality education" by governments, aid organizations and other groups, and that young people should be seen as "sexual beings."

Naturally, anyone who objects is branded as a religious nut. "Young people's sexuality is still contentious for many religious institutions. Fundamentalist and other religious groups — the Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic Schools) for example — have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, particularly, from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction. Currently, many religious teachings deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex," the report states.

Uh, excuse me...none of us "religious groups" deny "the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex." We just assert it should be enjoyed within the bounds of marriage. Yes, marriage - remember that?

The report argues that sex education should be "recast" to show sexuality as a "positive force for change and development, as a source of pleasure, an embodiment of human rights and an expression of self."

AT TEN YEARS OLD??? Our bull is obsessed with sex because he's an animal and cannot control himself. Surely people are a bit more elevated than our herd sire?

And hello, mindless animal sex results in unplanned and unwanted babies. Does Planned Parenthood grasp the connection here? Oh silly me, of course they do. After all, they're trying to stay in business in this tough economy just like everyone else.

On second thought, this whole escapade makes perfect sense. Never mind.

(Although just as a mental exercise...I wonder if the ten-year-old daughter of this report's author were to start having mindless animal sex because she was taught to be a "sexual being," would her mommy or daddy object? Just askin'.)

Thank God we homeschool. Planned Parenthood has a harder time getting their clutches on my kids in a home environment.

  1. It would be desirable for all young people to just make smart choices and act more mature than their years but it just doesn't happen. I think there is a difference between exposing kids to sex too early and making undesirable behaviors seem acceptable and being realistic. Unfortunately in many parts of the world (including the US) teen pregnancy rates (graphic sex ed for 10 year olds is a bit extreme IMO) are a very clear indicator that young people are in fact having sex. In some communities (Catholic Hispanics in the US are one) teenage birth rates being high could be partially blamed on a culture where teens are not exposed to basic concepts like birth control. They are going to have sex either way so enabling them to make responsible choices to me is just good sense socially, economically and for their families.

As for the world at large (namely Africa) sex education and the introduction of condoms is the only viable chance to control the spread of AIDs.

  2. Yeeoww, That is a fairly grim assessment of what people are capable of theotherryan. I don't believe we are doomed to follow the short lived animal, hormonal urges you refer to. We are humans with a fantastic brain that separates us from the animals. I really admire Tebow for having the nerve to swim against the current.

  3. Great post, I agree with you 100% and am so thankful my children are not subjected to this type of "education".

  4. Theotherryan's comments about (Africa) smack of the racism that is inherent in the Planned Parenthood mentality. No hope there, just sterilize the lot of them, right? I agree with Lloyd; this demeans us all. You observe the complexity of culture involved in human sexuality by bringing up Hispanic Catholics (probably also misunderstood on many levels), yet project your own idea of a solution on *all of Africa* - as if you comprehend the problem on any level! Please.

Teens are perfectly capable of more mature behavior if only it was expected of them. My own teens are endlessly offended by your low expectations. They all should be.

  6. 10:25, Let me see where to start. That AIDS is plaguing Africa isn't racist, it is a fact. As for not going country by country that would take a long time but I think in this respect lumping Sub Saharan Africa together isn't too inaccurate. Ridiculously high percentages of the population in many African countries have HIV/ AIDS. As for solutions you are right, I am just a guy theorizing. However getting people to protect themselves is probably more realistic than getting them to change lifestyles and cultural patterns (and you called me racist)

As for my observations on teen birth rates among Hispanics in the US. Again check the stats, their rate of teen pregnancy is roughly double the norm. I taught in a 92% Hispanic (about 99% of them were Catholic) school so I have some clue about the cultural factors involved.

Sorry if I offended you or your kids, that is certainly not my intent.

The thing is that we are talking about lots and lots of teens, not just yours. Maybe yours are great kids who were raised well and make good choices, for your sake and theirs I certainly hope that is the case. Here is the main difference between our points of view. You are talking about theoretical expectations (based on your own religious and cultural views) and how teens 'should' act. I am looking at the statistics for the actual behavior of large numbers of people and drawing conclusions based on reality. Our views are fundamentally different because I am looking at what is and you are looking at what you would like.
